Segmental reporting made mandatory

MUMBAI: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has made segmental reporting mandatory from the quarter ending December 31, 2001.

This is in contrast to SEBI's earlier notification that had made segmental reporting voluntary for the quarter ending September 30, 2001.

On taking this new stance, a SEBI statement said: ``There seems to be some mis-understanding, and in some quarters, there is an impression that a sort of withdrawal has been made by SEBI in the disclosure requirement regarding segmental reporting.''

It said voluntary disclosure of the segmental reporting is applicable only for the quarter ending September 30, 2001 and from the next quarter it will be mandatory. -- Our Bureau
