Parke-Davis net climbs 34 pc

MUMBAI, Oct. 29
PARKE-DAVIS India Ltd has registered a 34 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 5.16 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2001, as against Rs 3.83 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Net sales dipped marginally to Rs 57.09 crore (Rs 58.09 crore). Other income dropped to Rs 2.28 crore (Rs 4.01 crore). Total expenditure stood at Rs 49.84 crore (Rs 51.74 crore).
Interest dropped to Rs 6 lakh (Rs 94 lakh) and depreciation was at Rs 54 lakh (Rs 1.71 crore).
During the half-year ended September 30, 2001, the company posted a drop in net profit of Rs 8.90 crore compared to Rs 9.27 crore in the previous corresponding period.
Net sales was at Rs 110.41 crore (Rs 111.37 crore). Other income was at Rs 3.37 crore (Rs 9.03 crore). Other income for the corresponding six months ended September 30, 2000, includes Rs 2.94 crore towards profit on sale of flat and Rs 3.52 crore towards
lease rental income.
The earnings per share (non annualised) was at Rs 7.38 (Rs 7.69) for the half-year ended September 30, 2001.
