P&G Hygiene Q3 net at Rs 19.6 cr

MUMBAI, Oct. 29
PROCTER & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care Ltd (PGHH) has posted a net profit of Rs 19.61 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2001 compared to Rs 18.54 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Net sales for the quarter though were lower by three per cent at Rs 116.09 crore as against Rs 120.09 crore during the same period in the previous year.
According to the company, its core businesses of health care and feminine hygiene products, however, grew marginally by 0.5 per cent. Feminine hygiene grew strongly by 10 per cent while health care declined by five per cent.
A company release quotes Mr Bharat Patel, Chairman, PGHH, saying, ``during this quarter there was an overall decline in market growth of cough and colds products categories in line with general market trends in the consumer goods sector. In these difficu
lt conditions, we were able to maintain market shares of our VICKS products in the health care categories. The Whisper Ultra brand has doubled its sale over corresponding period last year and continue to drive solid growth for our total feminine hygiene
business.''
