Austrian Airlines plans more flights

NEW DELHI, Oct. 29

AUSTRIAN Airlines which is to start its sixth weekly flight on the Delhi-Vienna sector from next Thursday, has conducted a market study to decide which Indian city should be the second destination for the airline.

``We are looking at Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai. We will operate to one of the three cities subject to getting approvals at the air services bilateral talks later this year,'' the airlines Country Manager, Mr Robert Stainoch, said.

The airlines is, meanwhile, hopeful of being in a position to launch daily services between Delhi and Vienna some time next year. ``The seventh weekly service on the Delhi-Vienna sector will be launched next year. However, we cannot say whether it will b e launched in our summer or winter schedule,'' he said.

The airline official maintained that the untoward happenings in the US had not really affected the fortunes of the airline. ``Our bookings into and out of India are fine and have not been affected,'' he said.

Addressing the press conference, the Austrian Ambassador to India, Dr Herbert Traxl, recounted various areas in which India and Austria could cooperate, including fields such as metallurgy, energy and hydro power.

Later, answering questions, the Austrian Airline official said that since the airline started operations to India, there was a steady increase in joint ventures between India and Austria.
