Interactive1 tops BL-Ad Club quiz
Our Bureau
CHENNAI, Nov. 3
THE overcast sky and an intermittent drizzle did nothing to dampen the quizzing abilities of team Interactive1 as it cruised to victory at the Eighth quiz held here today. The team, comprising Mr Anil Raghavan, Mr N. Srinivasan and Mr Devadas Krishnan, w
as in the driver's seat from the start and clinched the first place by a comfortable margin.
Team Hertz, comprising Mr Sriram Iyer, Mr V. Srivatsan and Mr Bharath Gopalan, came in second place; a position it secured in the last edition of the quiz. The third place was a surprise. Battling it out with corporates and agencies was a team from Vivek
ananda College, with Mr Vishal B. Shah, Mr R. Gautam and Mr K. Pradyumna as members. They pipped the team from ITM Chennai, which came fourth while, the Quizicians were in the fifth spot, with Buildertz in the sixth.
This year's quiz was different for a couple of reasons. For one, the quiz master, Mr Suresh Kumar, introduced a semi-final round with 12 teams slugging it out for the six berths in the final. But what made the eighth edition of the Ad Club-Business Line
quiz rather special was the participation of a team from the city's SBOA school, perhaps the youngest-ever participants in the quiz's history.
Some 36 teams registered for the quiz, and battled it out in a written round which had a mix of questions, including some based on visuals and audio clips. Twenty-five questions had to be answered, including some sitters such as the `name the coffee pub
chain taken over by the Tatas'. And while 12 teams cleared this round, the final six were Interactive1, Hertz, Vivekananda College, ITM Chennai, Quizicians and Buildertz.
The finals had eight rounds including a couple based on slides and audio and video clips. Mr Kumar had a mix of questions which had the audience raring to answer. And while there were some sitters, there were a couple of tough ones too. Like the one on `
Which company's head office in Mumbai is in a building called The Masterpiece?' A member of the audience got it spot on, Star TV. Or the one on `Which logo has to 0.38g to be considered authentic?' The answer: Lacoste. However, both the teams and the aud
ience were stumped by another question -- `What are solace advertisements?' The answer: Advertisements meant to address misinformation about a product.
A rich haul awaited the winners, including cash prizes for the first three teams. Interactive1 won a cash prizes of Rs 12,000 from Business Line, hampers from Henkel, RPG, Reynolds, Cadbury's and Nutrine and CavinKare, coupons from Qwiky's and HFO, Inter
net access packs from Satyam Online, Satyam iWay access packs and Rhythm music cassettes, in addition to a six-month subscription to Business Line.
Hertz, in second place, got a cash prize of Rs 7,500 and Vivekananda College in third Rs 4,500, apart from hampers, coupons and gifts from a number of sponsors including hotel GRT Grand Days and Mayajal. The other three teams in the final also received g
ifts from various sponsors.
The audience too had an opportunity to win some prizes, including gift packs from Satyam Online and Satyam iWay, HFO coupons, mugs, caps, music cassettes, bags from Sify and hampers from Reynolds, Nutrine and CavinKare.
