Small spinners association withdraw stir
COIMBATORE, Nov. 3
THE three-day-old 'stop production' agitation launched by the members of the South India Small Spinners Association (Sisspa) in Tamil Nadu was withdrawn on Saturday.
The executive committee of the 500-member Sisspa which met here decided to defer the agitation following requests from the State Chief Minister and the Coimbatore District Collector, said Mr A.V. Ramaraj, the past President of Sisspa and a key functionar
y of the association.
He told Business Line that Sisspa members would resume operation of their textile units from Sunday. The Chief Minister had assured Sisspa that he would invite members either on November 19 or 20 for a discussion of their problems.
Notwithstanding the three days production loss, the agitation was a success and helped in highlight the problems facing the industry, he added.
