Rubber Rubber firms up on poor arrivals Our Correspondent
KOTTAYAM, Sept. 24 RUBBER prices firmed up suddenly on Tuesday on reports of non-availability of sheet rubber in the market in the absence of adequate arrivals. Arrivals stopped temporarily on reports about some plantations intending to suspend tapping to overcome the present dry weather situation if it prolonged. The buyers appeared to show more interest to procure rubber in the current short situation artificially created in the market. Traders are also aware of enough stock held at various producing centres. A lion's share of the crop has already reached the market. The international market continued its downward trends and touched Rs 41.96 on Tuesday. Sheet rubber RSS-4 spurted to Rs 37.50 while other grades showed marginal improvement. RSS-5 moved to Rs 36.25 from Rs 35.75 and ungraded to Rs 34.50 from Rs 34 on Monday. Block rubber ISNR 20 and latex 60 per cent moved up to Rs 36.25 from Rs. 35.75 and to Rs 29.50 from Rs 28.50 respectively.
