Dumping probe into ammonium nitrate imports

NEW DELHI, Sept. 24
THE Designated Authority in the Commerce Ministry has initiated anti-dumping investigations on alleged dumping of ammonium nitrate from Russia and Iran.
Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Company Ltd (GNFC), National Fertilisers Ltd (NFL) and Deepak Fertilisers and Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd have jointly filed the petition seeking anti-dumping probe on ammonium nitrate imports from Russia and Iran. GNFC has a capacity to produce 40,000 tonnes per annum of ammonium nitrate. Deepak Fertilisers is one of the largest producers of low-density prilled ammonium nitrate with installed capacity of 36,000 tonnes per year at Taloja near Mumbai.
Prilled ammonium nitrate is used for making ammonium nitrate fuel oil (ANFO) blasting agents as well as emulsified ENFO which are used in applications such as open cast mining underground metaliferrous mining, construction industry and other projects. Ammonium nitrate is also used in the manufacture of fertilisers like calcium ammonium nitrate and ammonium nitro phosphate. It also acts as a nutrient for antibiotics and yeast.
