New Products & Services MosChip unveils bridge chips Our Bureau
HYDERABAD, May 12 MOSCHIP Semiconductor Technology Ltd, a fabless semiconductor designer, on Monday announced the availability of six new products for the global marketplace. The company is sampling a bridge chip and USB to serial and parallel connectivity chips which take high integration solutions and offer multiple connectivity options. The Managing Director of MosChip, Mr Dayakar Reddy, in a statement said these products are MosChip's reply to the demand for high integration devices that are complete integrated solutions including all the support software and reference design information. All of these devices plus evaluation boards are currently sampling. Explaining the latest developments, Mr Reddy said MCS 9250 is a transparent bridge chip with special configurations that allows higher performance data transfers across the bridge. This bridge can be used to extend the connectivity within PCs and servers. Further, this bridge allows the connection of four secondary bus masters plus an external secondary facility. The company's other products provide extension of legacy connectivity for today's newer personal computers and allow PC users to continue to use existing peripheral devices on newer PCs that have dropped the serial and parallel port support through the on board ports. All of these new chips are self-contained solutions that support various Windows and Linux operating systems. These products assume importance particularly when newer PCs have transitioned from providing on board serial ports leaving the user with the option of replacing all of their peripheral devices like printers, scanners, faxes or purchasing a USB to serial parallel adopter. These chips facilitate the continued use of existing devices while reducing the cost of the adapter cable, MosChip claimed.
