Importance of retailing in curriculum stressed

NEW DELHI, June 30

RETAIL industry has come of age and is the magic formula for new generation business, said Mr Samit Sinha, Managing Director, Alchemist.

Addressing the media, corporates and students at a seminar organised by the Indian Institute of Planning and Management based on the theme of `Retail Alchemy: coming of age', Mr Sinha explained the dynamics of the international retail industry and emphasised the need for retail management as a specialised field in management curriculum in India.

Ms Gurpreet Wahi, Head-Marketing, Amrettos, explained why should India gear up for the retail boom. "Retail opens up numerous business opportunities for serious investors, franchisers and retailers," she said.
