Trends Voltas banks on heat, pollution for growth Our Bureau
Mumbai , Aug. 13 HEAT and pollution augurs well for Voltas Ltd. The company is banking on `the prevalence of climatic heat and pollution' along with a growing market emphasis on maintaining a healthy environment for driving its household and commercial air-conditioner business forward. In its annual report of 2002-2003, Voltas said that growth in the overall market stood at 20 per cent with a potential to rise to 40 per cent. "The optimistic outlook is based on low current market penetration of two per cent, upwardly mobile lifestyles and income levels and heat and pollution,'' the report said. The renewed plans and allocations for infrastructure development over five to seven years are expected to offer `significant opportunity' in construction equipment for Voltas. The company is looking at an overall economic growth as a positive factor for itself. "The revival of the manufacturing sector in India and especially its growing importance as an off-shore manufacturing base, represents opportunities in capital goods,'' Voltas said in its annual report.
