Human Resources Jobs on lease turning permanent Our Bureau
Bangalore , Aug. 13 WITH a potential of about 8-10 million jobs in the temporary staffing area in the country, job seekers and the corporate world are on the threshold of a new concept in employment. TeamLease Services, one of the first companies to have plunged into the employee leasing services business, has 2,000-odd temporary staff employed in 50 companies across the country. According to Mr Ashok Reddy, Managing Director, TeamLease Services, "Companies are realising the benefits of doing away with operational responsibilities and the cost that comes with it. Therefore, we expect a exponential growth in the area." TeamLease Services, which launched its services nearly 18 months ago, is addressing crucial issues that bother HR departments, such as regulatory paperwork, payroll and benefits management and training. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Reddy said, "This will allow corporates to devote more time to running their business". Some of its clients include Intel, Reliance Infocomm, Dr Reddy's Labs, Philips, BASF, Mindtree, Alcatel India and Lufthansa. Explaining the employment methodology, Mr Reddy said TeamLease charges between 10 and 30 per cent of the employee's CTC (cost to the company) to the client as service fee. "Temporary staffing does not mean employees lose out on PF, ESI, medical and accident insurance. All this is taken care of by TeamLease," he added. Calling it a cusp of relationship between TeamLease, employees and customers, Mr Reddy hoped to take his staff strength from 2,000 to 5,500 by March 2004. Talking of the employee profile that gets into temp staffing, Mr Reddy said, most of them are in the bracket of Rs 6,000 to Rs 30,000 per month. "There's one CFO we have placed at Rs 1.7 lakh per month."
