AI has already announced that it will operate a twice-a-week flight on the Mumbai-Delhi-Bangkok-Shanghai route from December this year.

New Delhi , Aug. 13

THE Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has proposed that Air India (AI) may consider operating a charter flight on the Delhi-Shanghai sector in October this year, coinciding with the `Made-in-India' show that is being organised by it in China.

"We have mooted a proposal for AI to consider operating a charter flight on the Delhi-Shanghai sector on October 13. The airline can use this charter as a good promotion for the twice-a-week scheduled flight that AI plans to operate later in the year," the CII's Senior Director, Mr Piyush Bahl, told Business Line.

AI has already announced that it will operate a twice-a-week flight on the Mumbai-Delhi-Bangkok-Shanghai route from December this year. The airlines plans to deploy a medium capacity aircraft with a seating capacity of about 200 passengers on this route.

Besides, CII is also in touch with the US-based International Management Group (IMG) to see whether the football club, East Bengal, could go to China to play some matches. "After the Club won the Asean (Association of South East Asian Nations) Cup in Jakarta recently there is a great interest to see them play in China. We are in touch with the IMG to see whether matches can be arranged in Shanghai and Beijing," Mr Bahl said.
