THE one-day strike called by the petrol dealers had little impact in the supply of fuel in Bangalore, except for vehicles coming from outside the city, as the consumers had ample time in the last two days to stock up their requirements.
Seventeen company-owned petrol filling stations were among the small number of fuel stations, which catered to the customers on Monday.
Of the total 1,800 filling stations in the State, Bangalore alone has about 250 filling stations accounting for a daily turnover of more than Rs 25 crore.
Nearly 1,000 petrol pumps across Karnataka remained closed in support of the day-long nationwide strike to press for a hike in commission on sale of petrol and diesel.
Ninety per cent of the pumps are closed today, said Sqdn. Ldr. (Retd.) G.V.Bhushan Narang, President of the Petroleum Dealers Association, Karnataka and Bangalore.
He said the association had been demanding a five per cent commission, which has been pending for a long time. Currently, the trade earns a commission equivalent to 1.5 per cent on its sales turnover and it is paid on pro-rata basis of per litre.
