Pistachio up on fresh buying; fall in supply

NEW DELHI: Pistachio prices on Saturday rose up to Rs 10 per kg in the national capital largely on the back of fresh buying by retailers and stockists. Restricted supplies from growing regions also supported the rise in the prices.

Pistachio Irani, hairati and peshwari were up by Rs 5-10 to conclude at Rs 730-790, Rs 685-715 and Rs 755-775 per kg respectively.

Market men said increased buying by retailers and stockists mainly pushed up pistachio prices in the dry fruit market here. They said restricted arrivals from producing southern region also supported the prices.

Following were today's quotations Rs per 40 kg:

Almond (California) new Rs 9,200, Almond (gurbandi) Rs 4,900 almond (girdhi) Rs 2,900-3,000 and Abjosh Afghani Rs 6,000-14,000. Almond kernel in per kg (California) Rs 310-315, almond kernel (gurbandi) (kg) Rs 315-360. - PTI
