Govt/States The Chennai Silks to open showroom in Kerala KOCHI: Making its entry into God's Own Country, Tamil Nadu based The Chennai Silks (TCS), which claims to be one of the largest retail textile chains in India, will open its first showroom in Kerala here on Monday. The nine floor showroom, spread over 1,25,000 square feet, has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 60 crore and will have separate floors for teen fashions, kids section, men's wear, ethnic wear and home furnishings besides silk sarees and designer sar ees, Director Mr K Vinayakam, said here. The group's total turnover is Rs 1,500 crore of which Rs 300 crore is from exports. The Chennai Silks, which has three showrooms in Coimbatore and huge outlets in Chennai, Karur, Tirupur, Thiruchirapalli and Erode, has more than 20 lakh square feet space for sale of textiles, making it one of the largest textile retail chains in India, he said. It has own weaving centres at Aarni, Kancheepuram and Bangalore, where designs visualised by famous designers from all over India are woven. General Manager, Mr Ravindran said the wedding collection, VIVAGA is the most sold and sought after wedding sari in South India. The wedding collections range from Rs 8000 to Rs 5 lakh, he said. - PTI
