Inflation declines to 3.04 pc

The annual rate of inflation was at its lowest point in 18 months at 3.04 per cent for the week ended October 13. The inflation rate for the same period in the previous year was at 7.20 per cent. The point-to-point inflation rate based on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) declined around 0.14 percentage points to 3.04 per cent from 3.18 per cent.

The inflation rate for September 2001, based on the consumer price number for industrial workers (CPI-IW) has declined to 4.73 per cent against 5.19 per cent of August and 3.5 per cent of September last year. -- BL Research Bureau
