Feasibility report on Navi Mumbai airport submitted

NEW DELHI, Dec. 25
THE Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr Vilas Rao Deshmukh, today presented the techno-economic feasibility report on the proposed airport at Navi Mumbai to the Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Syed Shahnawaz Hussain.
The Chief Minister said that 350 hectares of land for the project had been identified which is in the possession of the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO). CIDCO itself has prepared the report.
The length of the airport is expected to be 3,700 metres.
Presenting the report, Mr Deshmukh said that the proposed airport will be of international standards.
The Civil Aviation Minister said that there is an urgent need to decongest the existing airport at Mumbai.
