Speedy admission

Sir, — The single window system for professional course like B.E., has been working reasonably well. In order to make the system more efficient and student-friendly, I suggest the following:

The entrance test may be conducted some time in January itself. When the HSC results are announced in June, the admission process may start and end by June end. This will make the student attend the classes from July onwards. This will be all the more necessary because the first semester exam begins in November.

If early announcements of admission to professional courses are made it will also result in smoother admissions for other courses like B.Sc. As of now, many students who aspire to get admission for B.E. also get admitted in courses like B.Sc. (for which admissions are given earlier) resulting in an artificial pressure on these courses. When the students get B.E. admission they discontinue the B.Sc. course.

As a result, a large number of vacancies are created and it is too late fill the vacancies also. Hope the authorities in Anna University will take note of this suggestion and conduct the admission process accordingly in the interest of quality professional education.

V.S. Venkatavaradan,
Salem, (TN).
