Showcasing education, Singapore style

The exhibition in Chennai will host a series of seminars on topics such as Singapore Education, UG and PG opportunities

Chennai will get a taste of Singapore-style education on September 30 and October 1, with the Singapore Education Exhibition 2006 all set to showcase the best of institutions for the student community in the city.

After doing the rounds in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore, the expo will hit Chennai before moving on to Kolkata on October 4 and 5 and New Delhi on October 7 and 8.

Singapore Education

Singapore Education is a multi-government agency initiative by International Enterprise Singapore, the Singapore Ministry of Education, Singapore Tourism Board and SPRING Singapore (Standards, Productivity and Innovation Board) to establish the island nation as a premier education hub.

Institutions that will be present include ACS (International), AEC Business School, DUKE-NUS Graduate Medical School, EASB Institute of Management, LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts, Management Development Institute of Singapore, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Nanyang Technological University, National University of Singapore, PSB Academy, Singapore Institution of Commerce/Stansfield College, Singapore Institute of Management, TMC Academy, and The University of New South Wales-Asia.

On offer will be a plethora of diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in subjects such as information technology, business studies, computing, e-business, mass communication, marketing, tourism and hospitality management, interior design, biotechnology, pharmaceutical management and fashion design.

Seminars

The exhibition will also host a series of seminars on topics such as Singapore Education, undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities in public and foreign universities, undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities in private education organisations, design/arts and preparatory education.

"Singapore education specialists will be available during the exhibition for counselling students. An added attraction will be a booth by Contact Singapore, a Singapore government agency, where talent recruitment will be done for jobs in Singapore," says Bridget Goh, STB's area director for Southern India, Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Those interested in post-exhibition follow-ups can contact the Singapore education specialists in Chennai, who will also be represented at the expo.

The exhibition will be held between 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Hotel Taj Connemara. More details can be had from www.singaporeedu.gov.sg.
