Dancer honoured

SREE SHANMUKHANANDA Sangeetha Sabha, New Delhi, conferred the title, `Natya Ilavarasi' on Parvathi Ravi Ghantasala, on February 22, the inaugural day of the Sabha's Tyagaraja Music Festival.

Since 1997, the Sabha has been honouring a senior dancer or Guru every year for his or her contribution to Bharatanatyam, with the title, `Natya Ratna'.

`Natya Ilavarasi' is awarded to younger and up and coming dancers.

The music and dance festival, which concludes on March 4, is held annually in memory of Saint Tyagaraja.
