India expresses readiness to provide assistance to China

New Delhi (PTI): India on Wednesday expressed readiness to provide any assistance that China may require in its relief efforts in the aftermath of the killer quake.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee wrote to his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi expressing condolences and shock over the tragedy.

He "indicated India's readiness to provide any assistance that China may require," an External Affairs Ministry statement said here.

Mukherjee wrote the letter as he headed for Yekaterinburg in Russia, where he will meet Yang along with Russian Foreign Minister for trilateral talks on Thursday.
