Kannada activists disrupt Railways exams in Mysore, Bangalore
Mysore/Bangalore (PTI): Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) today barged into centres where Railway recruitment examinations were being conducted and disrupted them alleging "step-motherly" treatment to Kannadigas in jobs.
The activists stormed into an examination centre in Yuvaraja's College in Mysore where the written tests were on for the post of Railway ticket collector.
They tore question papers and answer sheets in some class rooms, alleging that out of 388 candidates who appeared for the test, 350 were from outside Karnataka.
Police arrived at the scene and took the activists into custody.
Examinations continued in class-rooms where there was no disruption, senior railway official and in-charge of the test centre Narasimhan said, adding, arrangements would be made later to conduct test for 20 candidates who could not complete their paper due to the disruption.
In Bangalore, KRV activists barged into an examination centre in Kamalabai school where the Railway tests as well as examinations for recruitment by Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) were being conducted.
The activists also disrupted the KPSC exams before police took them, including their leader Praveen Shetty, into custody, police said.
