    Maoist killed in encounter with police

    Dumka (Jharkhand) (PTI): A Maoist was killed in an encounter between extremists and police at Koramba jungle in Dumka district on Saturday night.

    Acting on a tip-off, a police team reached Koramba to flush out the Maoists but the ultras started firing at the police party, Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh said.

    A hardcore Maoist Somnath was killed in retaliatory action. An SLR rifle was found from the spot.

    Police fired 23 rounds while the Maoists fired about 30 to 35 rounds, he said.
