Gavaskar's resignation needs to be seen in context: Pawar

Pune (PTI): Reacting to the decision of former captain Sunil Gavaskar to resign from his ICC post, BCCI President Sharad Pawar on Thursday said the development needed to be seen in the context of "clash of interests".

"Gavaskar is one of the most respected cricketers in the world. His comments pertaining to ICC umpires during the recent tour of India to Australia had created the controversy," he said.

Pawar said he had a talk with the batting legend after the incident and he knew his (Gavaskar's) "mind" on the issue.
