‘Dasavatharam’ case posted for hearing next week

    Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court posted to next week the hearing in the writ petition filed by International Sri Vaishnava Dharma Samrakshanaa Society seeking for a direction to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to remove “offending scenes” in the film ‘Dasavatharam’ while issuing the censorship certificate.

When the case came up for hearing before a bench comprising Justice G.Rajasuria and Justice M.Sathyanarayanan on Tuesday, the judges asked whether the film would be released in a week’s time. Since counsel for the respondents, CBFC, Oscar Films and Director K.S. Ravikumar, replied that the film was not slated to be released within the next week, the bench posted the matter for hearing to next week and asked the respondents to file counters.

The counter filed by advocate K. Ravi on behalf of film director K.S. Ravikumar said “there is no scene depicting either Mr.Kamal Hassan or any other character in the film trampling on the mantra ‘Om’ or the sacred Bhagavat Gita.”
