CAREER CLUES FAQs
I am doing my third year in Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
Though it is a paramedical course, I am not aware of the job
opportunities after completing the course. Kindly let me know of
some avenues.

Employment opportunities exist in hospitals, nursing homes,
clinics, and rehabilitation centres, sports coaching centres and
in homes (when the patients need it). The nature of work would
range over areas of diagnosis, treatment and therapeutic follow-
up. Opportunities are also available in the teaching profession -
medical colleges and institutes as lecture/reader and professor
and also for private practice.
I completed my 10+2 under CBSE in science stream with biology as
my subject. I am now pursuing my graduation (B.Sc) in biology.
Besides this I've registered myself for the `O' level course
under DOEACC society. What are my prospects and what are the
options open for me in the IT industry? Am I eligible to enter
the IT field because I did not have maths either at the 10+2
level nor am I doing B.Sc. with computer science?

You can definitely enter the software field with the DOEACC
course. With an `O' level course, you can find employment as an
assistant programer, junior programer, console operator, data
entry operator or an EDP assistant.

A metallurgist can find employment in areas such as mining, oil
companies (oil exploration), material exploration, polymer and
ceramic industries, mineral processing, chemical and
petrochemical industries.
I am studying B.Com. My desire is to do chartered accountancy.
Can I do CA along with my B.Com? I am unable to study outside my
home town due to health grounds.
Abhisekh Dutta
Ranchi
You can indeed take up CA along with your B.Com. You would have
to however, complete a foundation course and pass the exam. The
foundation course can be taken up along with any graduate or
postgraduate course. It covers ten months postal tuition after
registration and provides basic knowledge in the fundamentals of
accounting, mercantile law, mathematics and statistics as well as
economics. Registration for the foundation course is on
throughout the year. The regional councils of ICAI can arrange
for the option of oral coaching.
