I am a graduate and wish to pursue my master's degree in the
field of operations research. Where is the course offered, what
are the eligibility criteria and career prospects in the field?

The minimum qualification required to seek admission into
operations research is graduation in mathematics, statistics,
economics or physical sciences. Operations research is a course,
which prepares a person for middle level management.
Specialists in operations research are normally absorbed in
various large and middle level industries, market research
bureaus, government and public sector organisations and
consultancies. Aligarh Muslim University, Cochin University of
Science and Technology, Kerala; University of New Delhi,
University of Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai;
and the Maharashi Dayanand University, Haryana offer an M.Sc in
the subject. You can correspond with them for more details.
I am a commerce graduate and interested in pursuing a course in
air ticketing and travel. Please name some institutes where I can
pursue the course.

The Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, Sita
Academy, YMCA and Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan in New Delhi and the
Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, Govind Puri,

I am doing my B.Sc final year and interested in pursuing
environmental engineering. Please list the institutions offering
this branch of engineering.

Environmental engineers are responsible for designing,
constructing and maintaining systems to control waste streams
produced in urban and rural areas or by the industries.
Waste management is critical for environment protection. Jamia
Milia Islamia, Jamia Nagar conducts post graduate courses in
environmental engineering and environmental management after
B.Sc. University of Delhi offers courses in BSc(Gen) with
environmental biology and those with a minimum of 40% marks in
intermediate with PCB are eligible to apply.
Delhi University also offers an M.Sc. in environmental and bio
genetics for BSc students, the qualifying percentage being 55%.
Jawaharlal Nehru University offers MSc in environmental science
while Jamia Hamdard offers MSC in environmental botany and
toxicology after BSc.
I am doing my B.Sc Part II (Vocational Course) biotechnology from
Ranchi University. What are the job prospects after doing an M.
Sc in the same?I have come across many queries specifying
biotechnology and computers as a good choice please list the
courses that will enhance my skills in the field of computers as
well as biotechnology?

Candidates with a postgraduate degree in biotechnology may find
suitable employment in leading pharmaceutical companies, chemical
industries, as well as agricultural and allied industries.
Biotechnologists are also employed in the areas of planning,
production and management of bio-processing industries, organic
chemical industries, and in pollution control activities of the
major industries.
Research and development is also an option open to you. Being
computer savvy and knowledge of a few computing languages would
be an added asset.
Bio-informatics is open for the students with a background in
biotechnology. The course is offered at the Bio-Informatics

University, Bio- Informatics in Tamil Veterinary University, Bio-

I am a student of a private college in Chennai and would like to
know about the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). How do I
qualify for it? Is there any exam clear, if so what are the
eligibility criteria for the test?

The Staff Selection Commission conducts a competitive examination
for the recruitment of the sub-Inspectors into the CBI.
The candidates qualifying the test first have to get through the
civil services exam that is conducted by the Union Public Service
Commission (UPSC).
The date and syllabus of the examination process are announced in
the Employment news weekly. Graduates between 21 and 28 years of
age are allowed to make a maximum of four attempts at the civil
service examination. CBI falls under the IPS cadre.
The CBI Academy, Ghaziabad is one such institute that trains CBI

insurance, the corporate sector, and companies dealing in finance
and leasing for management graduates and postgraduates in
finance.
