FINGER TIPS

Live it up, live out of the box!

Despite all the brouhaha of the new millennium, a new work culture and the flexi working hours, you discover at the end of the day that it is still the same routine. Work and back home. The excitement of a life in the fast lane doesn't seem so exciting, after all.

Take heart, don't be in a hurry to get to the end of the millennium before your time! Read on, on how to swipe the boredom out of your life and get jiving!

Trek to the Himalayas!

Wake up to the excitement of adventurous living. Take-off on a safari, climb a 3000 ft rock, go white water rafting, mountaineering, para-gliding, parasailing, bungee jumping, rappelling, kayaking, or jungle trekking and camping.

There are a number of adventure clubs sponsored by the government and set up by individual operators, like the- Balloon Club of India, the Karnataka Mountaineering Association, flying clubs, etc. So put the zing back in your life and gain a whole new perspective.

Reverse gear

Take a few days off from work to do a course that is totally unrelated to your work. You'll end up adding a new skill to your repertoire.

You never know when it may come handy! Like Vidisha, an enthusiastic 25 year-old, who chucked her job with a travel agency to do what she liked best - training people.

A natural communicator, she pooled all her resources and knowledge gained from having participated in workshops on self- development, to set up a flourishing business in soft skills training.

Pleasurable work

If you're the epitome of the ideal worker- disciplined, punctual and a workoholic, its time to give yourself a break! Choose a relatively non-chaotic day in the week or the month.

Wake up a little later than usual, read the paper, watch a bit of television, have an unhurried breakfast and arrive at the office a little later than the usual time (of course, keep the boss informed of the changed schedule!), enjoy doing your tasks scheduled and spend some fun time with co-workers. And see how it works.

You'll be de-stressed and brimming with enthusiasm for the next ten days.
