I am an electrical and electronics engineering student. I would like to know about the specializations I can opt for at M.Tech. Please tell me about the colleges and their modes of selection. Please tell me about the exam GATE also.

B.E/ B.Tech electrical and electronics offers a range of specialisations to choose from. The admission is generally based on scores secured in GATE or the entrance tests conducted by the colleges. Some specialisations, colleges and the mode of their selection are as follows:
• SRM University offers M.Tech in power electronics and drives, power systems, embedded system technology, digital communication and networking, VLSI design, communications systems, remote sensing and GIS, robotics engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science and engineering and information technology . • Anna University offers M.Tech in nanotechnology, automotive electronics, Embedded & Realtime System, VLSI Design, Network Engineering, Information Technology. The admission is based on entrance test. For details, visit www.annauniv.ac.in
• National Institute of Technology, Thiruchurapalli offers energy engineering, Process control and instrumentation and Industrial safety engineering. The admission is based on GATE scores only. For details, visit www.nitt.edu
• Vellore Institute of Technology offers M.Tech Mechatronics, communication engineering, energy systems engineering and sensor system technology. The admission is based on GATE scores or performance at the entrance test conducted by the institute. For details, visit www.vit.ac.in
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an all-India entrance examination conducted by GATE committee comprising Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordinating Board - GATE, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India for selecting candidates for engineering, technology, architecture, science and pharmacy. The minimum qualification for attending this exam is BE/ B.Tech/ B.Arch/ B.Pharmacy or M.Sc. The paper carries 150 marks and the time given is three hours.
