OUR COUNTRY is blessed with noble souls who have dedicated their mind, soul and also their precious time for the welfare of society. The list of those who have been awarded for their achievements by various organisations in different walks life is never-ending.
"Charity is the best service to mankind" and "help the needy" are some of the often-heard quotes. So...here we have a few more whom we can confidently add on to the list of the service minded people. T.P. Krishanan, president of the Textiles Merchant Association, has been awarded "Idhaya Kavallar" (The protector of the heart) Award by the Lions Club of Coimbatore North, for donating funds for the surgery of heart patients.
Krishna Kumar, a doctor by profession, has been awarded the "Humanitarian award" for his involvement in social activities. V. Mohana Sundarraj, director, Trichy Cooperative Society, has been awarded the "Sevai Chemmal" award for his services in donating blood besides other activities.
The brothers Saravanan and Srinivasan were honoured for having donated their father's eyes.
