Mega view, mega fun

When Steven Speilberg's creation Tyrannosaurus (T-rex) in the film `Jurassic Park' took that menacing jump towards kids, they ran for their lives. Watching it, the kids in the theatre too squirmed in their seats, carrying a frightening face. But there was another feeling that crossed through their minds -- to touch it and to feel it. Realistically, touching it may not be a possibility.

But how about the feeling of being a part of it when T-rex takes that plunge? It is a definite possibility. Come March 2003, city kids might actually feel like plunging into the depths of the sea along with Robert Shah in `Jaws' or skidding along with Sylvester Stallone from the Alps in `Cliff Hanger' or dancing along with our very own Chiranjeevi.

This possibility awaits them at the IMAX theatre coming up near the NTR Gardens as a part of the `Prasad-The Experience', an integrated family entertainment centre. With a 28-metre screen and images of unsurpassed size and clarity and six-channel audio system providing life-like sound, IMAX is all set to provide entertainment captivating the adults and kids alike. IMAX comes to India for the first time with over 230 such projects all over the world.

``IMAX experience can be described as the most powerful and involving film experience ever,'' says A. Ramesh, managing director, Prasad Media Corporation Ltd. It's not just Hollywood movies, but even the blandly made Telugu movies can be converted to this technology to give moviegoers an experience of larger-than-life emotion and adventure of their favourite Tollywood heroes.

The entertainment centre is not just a 3D theatre, but will house five multiplex theatres, fast food restaurants, coffee bars, theme restaurants, gaming zones, music stores, banquets and shopping malls, all spread over 2.35 lakh sq. ft. "The centre envisages an environment that promises to rouse the senses of all visitors,'' says Ramesh. About affordability, a movie in the IMAX theatre might cost Rs. 100 and odd, while they are yet to decide on the entry fare into the complex.
