A cartoon treat

Beginning today (Friday), Kochi will host the country's biggest inter-school festival. Thanks to the efforts of the Cartoon Network in reaching out to school children, `Activity-2002' promises to be a treat for students at all levels.

Having originated in Hyderabad, the multi-city school festival intends to encourage extra-curricular activities that help all-round development of students. The festival will have competitions in quizzes, debates, sketching, cartooning and poetry recitation - the themes and their treatment specifically designed to enhance imagination and creativity, apart from inculcating on-the-spot thinking among kids.Children representing over 40 schools are expected to take part in the two-day Activity-2002 to be held at the E.M.S. Memorial Town Hall.

The Network's golden duo, Tom & Jerry, is set to make an appearance at Activity-2002 to entice the young fans. Adding spice to the event will be the interactive Cartoon Network stall where kids can relax by participating in games and playing online games from the website, www.cartoonnetworkindia.com.

The Kochi festival will be followed by its successors in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Delhi and Chennai, said the organisers.

The leading children's channel launched in Asia Pacific in 1994 by Turner Broadcasting System (TBS), Cartoon Network currently remains one of the most popular entertainment channels among kids and is viewed in over 23 million cable homes.
