Power of M

SATURDAY NIGHTS are Saturday nights. They are special. For that's when you can totally unwind, get rid of the week's knots. For the lucky some though, weekends start on Friday. Right?

This way one can start the weekend bash well ahead of most others and still be in high spirits for Saturday's do. Okay.

Enough of Saturday. Let's talk about Friday folks. There are various alternatives available for the party animals in the happening city.

And one that appeared to be favoured now is Karaoke Nights at, where else? `Where Else,' the pub of course.

For the past two months Fridays have been Karaoke Nights. Seeing the growing popularity, MTV roped itself in and gave the programme a fillip. And thus was born MTV Karaoke Nights. What happens on these evenings?

In-house DJ Hemanth infused the initial enthu into the hep crowd. There was `Everything I do I do it for you' by Bryan Adams, `Mamma Mia', the good old ABBA number, Elton John's `Can you feel the love tonight', apart from the usual rock blast.

Then it was time for the real stuff. Patrons came up with requests and those who sang along (Karaoke) got a pint of beer. On the house. Sandhya sang `Frozen' by Madonna, while a perky Priyanka crooned `You must love me', another Madonna number.

Bhagat Reddy sang George Benson's `Nothing gonna change my love for you' and topped his beer mug.

The fun overflowed on Saturday. That was the MTV Mega Mix. VJs Ramona and Vivan, voted by the public in a nation-wide contest a couple of months ago, freely mingled with the crowd, microphones in hand. The patrons got free polaroid pictures taken with the VJs.

There were lots of free coupons being passed around. Music percolated into the bodies. It was lots of maza, masti, music all the way.

The promos for Friday and Saturday said `Watch mirrors crack, Beer mugs shatter. And ladies swoon'. It was just that, as people danced and partied into the early morning.
