Students stun audience

Dancing to the tunes.

IT IS an accepted fact that academic life would be incomplete without the right measure of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Quite a number of schools, especially a few matriculation schools, in realisation of this fact, have been providing all the ingredients that makes the lives of students lively.

Accordingly, the T.V.S. Lakshmi Matriculation Higher Secondary School conducted its Annual Day programme replete with activities such as bharathanatyam, vocal music, mirudhangam, skating, gymnastics, craft, art, dramatics, guitar, violin, keyboard and yoga.

But it was meant to be an annual show of `talents day' with a difference. The Principal, A. Sudhakaran, with a view to provide a fair opportunity for each and every student to exhibit their talents, organised it as a two day event, ie., on December 5 and 7, for students from class I to VIII.

There was another reason too. Even if the institution desires so, all students cannot be accommodated on the stage. This time, the students wrested the opportunity to exhibit their talents .

The campus was virtually ablaze with enthusiasm what with the plethora of colourful activities lending ample charm. With the weather turning out to be salubrious for the past few days, fitting well into the celebrative atmosphere, the students could not ask for more.

Needless to say. Parents kept streaming into the campus throughout the day. The events which started at 7.30 a.m. went on up to 7.30 p.m. on the days of celebration.

Creative expressions in art, painting, clay-modelling and craft won instant accolades of the visitors.

The displays, a captivating expression of the children's own creations spread over this academic year, included a sweeping array of water colour paintings, fabric paintings, contour drawings, glass paintings, collage etc.

Carnatic recitals, both vocal and instrumental, classic and folk dance and hilarious presentation of histrionics added to the variety of the celebration.

And gymnasts, in a bid to prove to the spectators what marvellous performance meant, displayed a breathtaking range of performances.

A veritable bharatanatyam on the wheels evoked a rapturous response from the audience.
