National \| Previous \| Next President, Vice-President greet people NEW DELHI, DEC. 31. The President, Mr. K.R. Narayanan, and the Vice-President, Mr. Krishan Kant, today greeted the people on the eve of the new year. In his message, the President said: ``as the Sun rises over the year 2000, may it bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all our people. Let us take the new year's resolve to work to meet the exciting challenges of the new millennium and promote unity and harmony among all Indians.'' Mr. Krishan Kant said eradicating poverty, exploitation and inequality and giving people the means and will to improve quality of life, without ever surrendering their liberty, will be the major challenges ahead. - PTI Send this article to Friends by E-Mail
