4 accomplices held, five hijackers identified
Four key accomplices of the Pakistani
hijackers involved in the hijack of the Indian Airlines Flight
IC-814 have been arrested in Mumbai, the Union Home Minister, Mr.
L. K. Advani said here today.
23 injured in Delhi railway station blast
At least 23 people were injured in a blast
aboard a stationary passenger train at the Old Delhi railway
station on Thursday evening.
'They were unknown mujahids'
All the three militants released by India on
December 31, in exchange for the release of the hostages, have
entered Pakistan. Masood Azhar, one of the released militants
confirmed this in Karachi today. While Mushtaq Zargar has landed
in Muzaffarabad, the whereabouts of Ahmed Umar Saeed Sheikh, a
Pakistan-born British national, are not known.
Win Chadha ready for trial
With the Dubai-based businessman, Mr. Win
Chadha, expressing willingness to face trial in the Rs. 64-crore
Bofors payoffs case, the Special Court here has asked him to
apply for a fresh Indian passport as his earlier one had been
impounded.
Merger comes a cropper

Army Chief in Myanmar
The Chief of Army Staff Gen. Mr. V. P. Malik,
has flown on a two-day trip to Myanmar to chalk out new joint
measures to curb the recent spate in militancy in the north-east.
Sajjan Kumar acquitted
A Delhi court today acquitted the former
Congress (I) MP from Outer Delhi, Mr. Sajjan Kumar, in one of
1984 anti-Sikh riot cases.
Hijack handling inept: CWC
The Congress(I) Working Committee met this
evening and passed a resolution severely criticising the
Government's ``most inept'' handling of the hijacking crisis, and
warning that the Government had seriously compromised the
security of the nation by releasing three hardcore terrorists.
CBI to probe IA hijacking case
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
would probe the hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC-814,
said the Union Home Minister, Mr. L.K. Advani.
