U.S. warns Pak. against Masood's activities
The United States has asked Pakistan to
prosecute the militant leader, Masood Azhar, if it was found that
he had violated Pakistani law and warned that it would hold
Islamabad responsible for all his ``terrorist'' activities which
threatened the lives of Indian and U.S. citizens.
Sensitive information 'excised' from Kargil panel report
The K. Subrahmanyam Committee, that probed the
``intelligence failure'' which led to the Pakistani incursions in
the Kargil sector in April 1999, submitted its report today to
the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee.
Nepal to make public hijack probe findings
The contents of a Nepalese inquiry into the
December 24 hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight from Kathmandu
to Delhi would be made public, Mr. K.P. Gyawali, Nepal's
ambassador to Pakistan, said today.
Maharashtra for action on Srikrishna panel report
The State of Maharashtra today told the
Supreme Court that it was willing to refer the recommendations of
the Sri Krishna Commission report and its conclusion - which
investigated into the circumstances relating to the 1992-1993
Mumbai riots in the wake of the demolition of the Babri masjid -
to the investigating agencies for further required action.
Hunt on for rly. station blast suspect
The Delhi police on Friday released a sketch
of one of the men suspected to be involved in the bomb blast on
the Saharanpur-bound Shamli Express at the Old Delhi railway
station on Thursday.
Caution against BJP's 'hidden agenda' on Hindu Rashtra
The four-day Tenth All- India Conference of the
Students' Federation of India (SFI), the CPI(M)'s students wing,
began here today with Prof. K. N. Panickar, historian, making an
impassioned plea to be conscious of the BJP's ``real hidden
agenda'', as that was subtly linked to the country's educational
process now sought to be changed by the BJP-led NDA.
'New legislation to protect consumers' interests soon'
The Union Finance Minister, Mr Yashwant Sinha,
today said that the Consumer Protection Act was being reviewed by
the Government and a new legislation would be enacted soon.
Opposition rallying against BJP's 'hidden agenda'
The Opposition today stepped up pressure on
the BJP leadership against its ``hidden'' agenda with the Left
parties threatening to start a campaign on the issue, and the
Congress(I) alleging a ``conspiracy'' against the minorities.
