Pak. embassy staff leaves Nepal
KATHMANDU, JAN. 7. A Pakistan Embassy junior staff here, declared
``persona non grata'' by the Nepal Government after being caught
red-handed while dealing in Indian counterfeit currency, has left
for home, a Foreign Ministry official confirmed.
Aslam Saboor was on Wednesday last issued quit order after being
kept in police custody since last Sunday.
Saboor had been apprehended in a Nepal police sting-operation
after he sold fake notes amounting to Rs. 50,000 to a lady
undercover police agent.
While the police here wanted to press formal charges against
Saboor, the Pakistan mission here, headed by the Ambassador, Mr.
Fawzia Nasreen, claimed he enjoyed ``diplomatic immunity'' and
thus could not be prosecuted for the crime.
