By Our Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD, JAN. 7. Stating that total e-governance (Electronic
Governance) was the objective, the Chief Minister, Mr. N.
Chandrababu Naidu, reiterated his resolve to offer all Government
services on the Internet within two years in the entire State.
The Twin Cities Integrated Network Services (TWINS) was only the
first stage for achieving such an objective, he said.
Addressing members of the U.S. Consortium for Trade with India at
the Jubilee Hall, here, on Friday, he said: ``Andhra Pradesh is
the most reforming State in India.''
Mr. Naidu said he was adopting economic reforms with a human
face, and balancing reforms with development activity. His vision
was to eradicate poverty, provide the people access to a happy
and fulfilling life, and create a knowledge and learning society.
The Vision 2020 was aimed at achieving this.
Making a presentation on the development potential in the State,
Mr. Naidu told the visiting delegation ``If you do not invest
now, you will repent afterwards. If you face any problems here,
you can contact me.``
There were 49 projects in Andhra Pradesh with U.S. collaboration.
Fifty per cent of Indian software professionals in the U.S. were
from Andhra Pradesh. Besides a State Information Promotion Board,
the State had also set up an ''IT Steering for Andhra Pradesh
(ITSAP).``
The Major Industries Minister, Mr. K. Vidyadhara Rao, said the
State's focus was on developing infrastructure, manufacturing
sector, tourism and human resource sector.
Dr. Sam R. Kottamasu, Secretary, Michigan Association for Trade
with India, said Michigan was known as the automobile capital of
the world. But Information Technology was its most rapidly
growing sector now.
Mr. Victor Naidu, president, Ramsoft Systems, and member of the
delegation said they had convinced the Michighan State Governor
to recognise Andhra Pradesh a ''Sister State``. Mr. J. S. Rao,
president, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FAPCCI) welcomed the delegates.
