Hindujas offer to give any `clarification'

LONDON, JAN. 14. The Hinduja brothers tonight offered to give any `clarification' to the CBI in the Bofors payoffs scandal but maintained they had nothing to do with the gun deal.

A spokesman of the Hinduja group here said that the three brothers _ Srichand Hinduja, Gopichand Hinduja, Prakash Hinduja _ had received letters from CBI seeking `certain clarifications' with regard to the case.

`We have offered our full cooperation to the agency in the past and to successive governments for any clarification in this case,' he said.

`We will be happy to offer any further clarifications required. We have consistently maintained that we have nothing to do with the gun deal. We feel aggrieved that the Cbi should be leaking information to the media even for seeking clarifications when we have voluntarily offered them full cooperation,' the spokesman said.

Meanwhile CBI sources said in New Delhi that the Hinduja brothers based in London and Geneva have been asked to join the probe into the Bofors case. Notices have been sent to the three and they have been given a week's time to reply to the same. They have been asked to come to Delhi for examination.
