By Our Special Correspondent
GUWAHATI, JAN. 14. Computerisation of the administration is going
on apace in Assam and by 2004 the entire administrative machinery
will be computerised.
Similarly, computerisation of the police is also going on and in
two years, anybody will be able to contact any police station
anywhere in India from any police station in Assam.
This was stated by the State Industries Minister, Mr. Gunin
Hazarika, here on Friday at a press meet where he announced the
signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Assam
Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) and the Software
Technology Park of India (STPI), for setting up a software park
at Guwahati.
The Managing Director of AMTRON (Assam Electronics Development
Corporation Ltd.), Mr. P. K. Das, who was present at the press
meet, said the park would be able to accommodate 19 units.
Already, 20 applications were received, mostly for setting up
information technology units.
Mr. Hazarika intends to invite the Prime Minister for the
inauguration of the park.
