Ayurveda to be globalised
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, JAN. 19. India is preparing to play a nodal role in
promoting and propagating traditional Indian systems of medicine,
particularly Ayurveda globally.
Stating this Ms. Shailaja Chandra, Secretary, Department of
Indian Systems of Medicines and Homoeopathy in the Ministry of
Health and Family, said steps like standardisation of drugs,
finalisation of processes relating to certification and creation
of necessary infrastructure were being taken apart from training
and developing the human resources needed for the effective
growth of the system.
Releasing the report on the results of the recently concluded
international seminar on ``Ayurveda and traditional medicines -
scope and challenges'', organised by the Gujarat Ayurved
University at Jamnagar, Ms. Chandra said the response was
encouraging.
The seminar, she said, has suggested adoption of a strategy to
develop a common language and an appropriate interface between
Ayurveda and allopathy. Apart from creating educational avenues
and multi-language literature, support will be mobilised for
protracted research and development in the field of Ayurveda.
