India protests arrest of programmers

WASHINGTON, JAN 28. India has protested against the recent arrest of 40 Indian programmers at Randolph Air Base near San Antonio by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalisation Service (INS) on grounds of alleged visa violations.

``We have conveyed our protest to the U.S. State Department and the department has promised to investigate the incident,'' Washington Times quoted the Indian ambassador to the U.S., Mr. Naresh Chandra as saying.
