Consumer price index declines

SHIMLA, JAN. 31. The consumer price index number for industrial workers (CPI-IW) registered a decrease of seven points during the month of December 1999, to stand at 431. The index had decreased by nine points in the same month in 1998.

The point-to-point rate of inflation based on CPI-IW which had come down to zero per cent in November 1999, also increased to 0.5 per cent. The rate of inflation was 15.3 Per cent during last year.
