President accepts Uma Bharti's resignation

NEW DELHI, FEB. 2. The President, Mr. K. R. Narayanan, has accepted the resignation of the Minister of State for Tourism, Ms. Uma Bharti, as per the advice of the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee.

On the Prime Minister's advice, the President has directed that Mr. Ananth Kumar shall hold the office of the Minister for Tourism with additional charge of Department of Culture. In the bargain, Mr. Ananth Kumar will give up charge of the Department of Youth Affairs.

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique, Mr. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Minister of Urban Employment and Poverty alleviation, shall hold additional charge of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Still later, another communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan announced that Mr. T. Chaoba Singh, Minister of State, shall hold the office of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
