Ganguly tops Ceat ratings
MUMBAI, FEB. 2. Despite their dismal failure on the tour of
Australia, Indians continue to lead the latest Ceat ratings for
the Ceat International Cricketer of the Year for the 1999-2000
season. Saurav Ganguly is on top of the Ceat ratings for January
with 85 points, followed by his captain Sachin Tendulkar, who has
75. New Zealand all rounder Chris Cairns is close behind at No. 3
with 72 points.
But after the top three spots, Australian players figure in four
of the next five positions in the top ten, a sign of the team's
all-round strength and recent sweeping success.
The Ceat ratings which culminate in the Ceat International
Cricketer of the Year Award take, into account international
cricket played between May 1 and April 30.
The ratings: 1. Saurav Ganguly (India/85 points); 2. Sachin
Tendulkar (India/75); 3. Chris Cairns (New Zealand/72); 4. Ricky
Ponting (Australia/71); 5. Rahul Dravid (India/67); 6. Mark Waugh
(Australia/63); 7. Glenn McGrath (Australia/54); 8. Shane Warne
(Australia/51); 9. Lance Klusener & Jacques Kallis (both South
Africa/50).
