Muivah gets one year jail term
BANGKOK, FEB. 3. A Thai court jailed Mr. Thuingaleng Muivah,
general secretary of the outlawed National Socialist Council of
Nagaland (NSCN-IM) for a year after he was convicted of using
fake documents, court officials said today.
Muivah, 66, was jailed after he was nabbed at Sanqkhla airport in
southern Thailand while trying to board a Singapore-bound flight
with a fake passport.
Muivah had been arrested on the same charge while travelling on a
fake south Korean passport on January 19 but jumped bail.
The NSCN has held several rounds of peace talks with the
Government since the ceasefire came into force, with the last
meeting taking place in Bangkok in November.
