MTL Instruments' global strategy

CHENNAI, FEB. 7. MTL Instruments, manufacturers of intrinsically
safe barriers and isolators, has major plans, besides
strengthening its Chennai facility.
Announcing this at a press conference on Saturday, Mr. Malcolm
Coster, Chairman, MTL Instruments Group, said, MTL was now
reviewing the activities of its worldwide operations and this was
likely to result in yet more products being manufactured in
Chennai. The company's products provide protection against
explosion when electronic equipment is used to monitor and
control process plants. The group was also thinking of making the
Chennai facility as an export base.
Explaining the group's global strategy Mr. Coster said to
maintain the group's leadership in the intrinsic safety market by
continuing to promote high quality range of isolators and
barriers, the group was looking for suitable acquisitions.
Mr. Coster was here in connection with the 10th anniversary of
the establishment of its Chennai subsidiary. He said the Chennai
operation had grown rapidly and it attained the status of MTL
design and manufacturing centre for Asia-Pacific and sales
headquarters for the whole of the Indian subcontinent.
