'Taliban sympathised with hijackers'
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, FEB. 28. The External Affairs Minister, Mr. Jaswant
Singh, told the Rajya Sabha today that the Taliban authorities,
while adopting an attitude of correct facilitators at Kandahar in
dealing with the hijackers of IC-814, consistently and clearly
had their sympathies with the hijackers and their other
supporters.
In a suo motu statement on the hijacking of the Indian Airlines
flight on December 24, the Minister said the Government of India
had conveyed to the Taliban that it expected both the hijackers
and the three released terrorists to be treated as criminals in
conformity with law.
